Qantas Best News |
Daily news programme which demonstrates excellence in news gathering and presentation. Entrants are required to submit two programme broadcasts, one from a date of their choice within the awards eligibility period, the second from the date identified by the Committee. This second date is 22 February 2011. |

Best News or Current Affairs Presenter |
Excellence in live presenting and interviewing with integrity and authority on a daily/weekly basis. Only one presenter can be nominated per entry. |

3 |
Journalist of the Year |
Excellence in journalism in either news or current affairs. Winners in category 4, 5, 6 and 8 are eligible for consideration for this award. |

4 |
Best News Reporting |
Excellence in news reporting by demonstrating investigative skills, story telling, integrity and ability to present effectively. Entries may be two single news reports, or no more than three reports on the same running story. |

5 |
Best Current Affairs Reporting for a weekly programme or one-off current affairs special |
Excellence in the genre including story-telling, interviewing, research, presentation and public impact. Entries can be in the name of the reporter and producer with a maximum of two stories per reporter. |

Best Current Affairs Reporting for a daily programme |
Excellence in analysing news events, research, newsworthiness, story-telling and presentation. Entries can be in the name of the reporter and producer, and can reflect treatment of a single story OR a story with a number of related elements, the duration of which shall be no more than 12 minutes in total. Entries may be two reports per reporter, or per reporter and producer. |

Best Current Affairs Series |
A daily/weekly series which demonstrates excellence in current affairs reporting, story-telling and research. |

8 |
Investigation of the Year |
A news/current affairs story which significantly expands an issue of public interest. Judges will seek excellence in reporting, interviewing, research and presentation. Entries can be in the name of the reporter, or reporter and producer. This entry can consist of one or two reports on the same subject to allow for follow-ups to the original story. |

Best News Camera* |
Excellence in camera work which makes a clear difference to the presentation and story-telling of up to three individual reports. |

Best Current Affairs Camera* |
Excellence in camerawork which makes a clear difference to the presentation and story-telling of a single report. |

Best News Editing* |
Excellence in editing which shows technical skills and ability to combine formats such as graphics in a way which makes a clear difference to the presentation and story-telling of up to three individual news reports. |

Best Current Affairs Editing* |
Excellence in editing which shows technical skills and ability to combine formats such as graphics in a way which makes a clear difference to the presentation and story-telling of a single current affairs report. |
