All News and Current Affairs, General Television and Documentary DVDs should be clearly labelled with the following details:

In the case of Feature Film and Short Film please label as follows:

  • Entry Number
  • Entry Name

Each feature film entry must be accompanied by five copies of the writer's final draft (screen play categories will be judged on the writer's final draft plus the film).  This must also be provided if screen play categories are entered - please note the digital feature scripts are also accepted. These must be submitted by the close-of-entry date.

NB: Each entrant is responsible for ensuring DVDs contain the relevant entry, and that there is no technical fault preventing playback. Failure to do so may result in the entry being disqualified.

Languages

Please tick the box in the entry form for all languages in the programme (i.e. English, Maori, other) so that we can flag all entries that are not English and the judging process can make allowances for this.

Time-coded Segments

News and Current Affairs entries should include a specific time-coded segment for judging where necessary i.e. where a specific bulletin within a full broadcast contains the content to be judged.

Protecting Your Property From Piracy

The Aotearoa Film & Television Awards committee takes piracy issues very seriously and we would like to draw your attention to the following measures we have put in place to reduce the risk for all award entrants.

  1. The New Zealand Film Commission recommends that all entrants in the film categories apply a watermark for protection.  There is a one-off set up cost involved to do this but once you have applied for the watermark you can use it as often as required.
  2. Entrants in all categories have the option of paying a nominal fee to cover the cost of the return of materials at the conclusion of the competition.  If you would like this option tick the appropriate box in the online entry form.
  3. Our judges have been selected because of their standing and experience in the industry and they respect the work of others and are committed to the integrity of the competition.
  4. All judges are required to sign a confidentiality agreement (this includes specific reference to ensuring that all entry material is treated as privileged and confidential, and will be returned to the entrant). Judges also receive an information sheet designed by NZFact (New Zealand Federation Against Copyright Theft) that outlines how to keep DVDs safe during the judging period.
  5. We will be aggressive in prosecuting anyone who breaches any relevant laws.
